Today I have made two Christmas decorations online. They have my two cats on them. This is one of the Summer Learning Journey activities. Here they are:

StepsWeb Review

 StepsWeb update:

All right, I'm gonna be honest here, the new StepsWeb is so stupid. I mean, it is cool because the background is my favourite colour, AKA blue. 

But there is a catch, Raewyn and I finished StepsWeb, when you do that you can do any course in StepsWeb but now we can't. Raewyn and I think that this is stupid that we can't do that. We were goofing off last time we were on StepsWeb and going on one of the first levels and now we are STUCK ON IT! I mean it is easy and all but, I don't like it. We are hoping that our progress from before is still there because we want to go on different levels whenever we want to... WE CAN'T!

What Is M.A.P.I.C? (Why I Blog)

 WHAT IS M.A.P.I.C AND WHY DO I BLOG?

What is MAPIC? Well MAPIC stands for, multimodal representation of ideas, amplification, personalisation, interactions and coherence.

 Multimodal means more than one type of text like videos, podcasts, drawings, images, voiceovers, etc.

Amplification means to make your point clear which includes highlighting, repeating things so that the main point is very clear for the audience.

Personalisation means to teach the audience about yourself, like telling them your culture, personality, etc. This could also include greetings, humour and advice.

Interaction means to ask questions and ask for feedback and feedforward. You can also do something like sharing your D.L.O to your friends and family so they can edit, comment or view it.

  Coherence means to make sure that all your work connects and your audience can tell what you have been learning instead of thinking that you have been on the wrong thing.

The three reasons that I blog is because I like to connect with the world, I like to tell you what I've been doing and lastly, I like to blog because I love to reply to you guys when you comment and start a positive relationship.

Kia ora, today we were doing a prototec and I got 40/40! YAY! Here is my work:

Today we had to do a prototec. Because Ms Waho is my favourite teacher in the whole wide school world, I did my best. Even though I got one wrong, I think I did well because it took me 2:55 minutes. I think that is my best score by far.

Today we had a set amount of time to complete a Prototec Basic Facts session.  We then all had to stop, take a screenshot and post this to our blogs so we could share how we went.

 What I did in the holidays:

This week we have been writing about our holidays. I like doing this because I had a really good holiday.

REFLECTION: I think that I did well with this, I also think that everyone else did a good job as well. The rest of my class did it as well so look at their blogs too.

Today we have been learning about honesty! Honesty is when you tell the truth and then people will believe you. My friends and I made this slide about being honest. Alyxis, Ema-Leigh, Marsali, Raewyn and Unique.

REFLECTION:  I think we all did well and we explained most things you need to know about being honest!

This term our focus for Goal Setting is Steps Web. In July, I set a goal for the rest of the term. Today, I am checking how I have done.

REFLECTION: I think that I did well with the colours and I did the right amount of positives, minus' and interesting things that happened in lockdown.

Today I did the other part of the learning that our teacher Ms Cabral gave us to learn about our favourite animal. I have two favourite animals so I did two.

REFLECTION: I think I did a pretty good job. I used Cool Text, Google and a site that told me all about wombats.

During this year I created an animation with Maori instructions, I created this with Alyxis, a fellow student. I think I did okay, and I like all the characters.

REFLECTION: I think we did a good job with all of the different instructions.

The other day, I was on Hour Of Code and I started to create a video game. I made a little reptile that throws tacos! I thought that it is very cool.

REFLECTION: I think I did well for my first time. How do you think I did?

Today I had a play with Soundcloud. Hakeem my fellow classmate showed us how to use it. I gave it a go and this is how it turned out.

REFLECTION: I think this went well, next time I will make it more interesting.

Today I played with Incredibox and made a new band and song. This time I made FD playing Making Lives, I think this is cool because of the beats.

Stepsweb Completion

 Stepsweb Is Complete!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have finished level six of Stepsweb and that means I have finished the game, but now I can go around and through all the levels and redo activities and do activities. Stepsweb is all about literacy and spelling etc. It helped me in lots of different ways.

 REFLECTION: Stepsweb is very helpful but sometimes frustrating because sometimes levels and activities are really hard and you think you can not do it but as I just proclaimed we now know it is not impossible!

Challenging Ourselves During Lockdown

During the lockdown, I have been feeling bored as you would, so our amazing teacher Miss Waho gave us a template to fill in with ideas of how I can challenge myself. Oh yeah, and also it is our value of the week. 

REFLECTION: These are some risks for me personally, so it does not matter if you can not do these things.

Daffodil Day Voki

 Daffodil Day:

It was recently Daffodil day in NZ so our lovely teacher Miss Waho said we could make something for Daffodil Day, so I made a Voki about Daffodil Day:

REFLECTION: I think my Voki is cool because it has the truth in it, I actually have a friend that has cancer... It has not affected me as much as what you would think but it is still a sad thing.

QUESTION: Do you have anyone in your life with cancer?? I am okay if you do not want to talk about it.😀

For cybersmart, we have been learning about how to be positive online. Our teacher Miss Waho gave a blank template to work with to write out what we should and shouldn't be doing online;

REFLECTION: I think I might have not done enough for different ideas. But that is all I could think of...

Cake Creating

 Cake Baking

Today is my cat Beauty's birthday, so I decided to make a cake for her, even though she can not eat it. I made a vanilla cake with plain blue icing on top. I also put white edible glitter on the top because why not?

REFLECTION: I think my baking went well, this is the first cake that I have made and it was delicious!!😀

Prototec

Prototec Time

This term we are focusing on getting faster at recalling our basic facts.  We will be using Prototec to do this.  Here is my first attempt at Stage 5. 

Next time, I need to get better at recalling my division straight away.

For Steps web this term, we are making sure we use this programme more regularly.  We have set personal goals for the term. 

Google Summit

 Wevideo

I learnt how to make a wevideo, I don't want to share my one that I did yet because it is not finished. If you want to try it out then you can have a play, it does get a little bit confusing but it's okay.

 I would say it's a good tool but it is a little bit hard. This is the next step for me to try out different things and have more of a play. You can use it for sharing your learning.

Codey Rocky

Codey Rocky is a robot programming thingamabob.  I don't know what you can use it for but it is cool, you can make it speak, meow, move etc.

Codey Rocky is a cool programmer and I like it. You do need to get used to the type of programming that Codey Rocky uses. For Codey Rocky, you have to programme it with different control blocks. 

Presenting Biteable

I presented Biteable for the 3-4 session and it went well, sort of. I love biteable and its ways so that is why I wanted to present it, I did it with Ashaswi and I think we did well.

That was what Ashaswi and I used for presenting.

I think our second session was better because people were more focused and listened better we also got the message through. I am proud of Ashaswi and I.

Today has been a great day and I have enjoyed it, if you ever get the chance to come to a Google Summit, do it, it is fun and you learn how to use different tools on your device.

Reptiles and Wolves

The Boy Who Cried Wolf:

I have been learning about fables. In The Boy Who Cried Wolf, I think that the boy is the villain because tricking and lying to the villagers. I also think that there was no hero because the sheep and the wolf are basically just side characters and the villagers were just getting tricked.

Today we did some cybersmart about finding out about people, we had to find out who Cooper is.

REFLECTION: I think this was a good experience because this was the first time for some of us to do this.

Sensational StepsWeb

StepsWeb is a programme that helps our learning in all areas of Literacy.

REFLECTION: I think Stepsweb is a good learning tool for kids of all ages to learn more phonics, reading and comprehension. 

NEXT STEPS: I think I need to work on my phonics knowledge.

Being on Time.

Perfect Punctuality

This weeks value is Being on Time. I think this is important in lots of situations. We did an activity on why it is important to be on time and what will happen if we are late.

REFLECTION: I always struggle to get up early so I can get to school at the right time that I should.

QUESTION: How do you think I could wake at the right time?

 Having fun and celebrating together.

This weeks value is having fun and celebrating with others. So, like, when someone gets an award you celebrate with them instead of getting grumpy.

I love this value because I do that all the time when my friends get awards, I think this is a good value to practise because it is important to use to not have a negative mindset if you don't get an award, instead celebrating and having a positive mindset.

Term 2 S.M.A.R.T goals

 This week we have been learning about S.M.A.R.T goals. S.M.A.R.T goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based.

Terrific Tumahana Adventure Conduct

 Tumahana at the Christchurch town hall

On Monday the 29th of March Takitini went to the town hall on a bus, to watch the Tumahana Performance. Tumahana was a show about the creation story told by the people of the South Island tribe called Kai Tahu.

In the show, we saw a narrator in a purple suit who was telling us what was happening, on stage, there was a hanging hula hoop, silks and ropes. The actors were uses
